Our Story

The Arabic language has a bit of a reputation. Learning Arabic is often a little old-fashioned and a lot of hard work… Araboh was created to challenge that reputation. We believe that Arabic can be fun!

Araboh was established in 2008 by Jinanne Tabra, an Iraqi who struggled to learn Arabic while growing up in Scotland. Determined to solve this problem for future generations, Jinanne founded an online children’s bookstore that would sell quality Arabic materials handpicked for their interactive elements, fun storylines and truly engaging content.

Today Araboh is much more than just a bookstore. Check out our Parents section for step-by-step advice on Arabic homeschooling, free downloadable resources, and discussions with other parents. Visit our Educators area to join one of Araboh’s international reading programs, access our book club or learn how we can help schools and libraries that cater to special needs students. And join us in the Kids corner to kick back with educational games, quizzes and activities.

Reading

Browsing the Araboh bookstore? Every item featured on Araboh has been read by a member of the Araboh family and has passed the Araboh test – meaning we believe it can compete with the best English language materials available today. Our books come from more than 40 publishers worldwide, and they are classified by age as 3+, 4+, 5+, etc, because we believe there is no age limit to learning. If you are an adult learning Arabic for the first time, you can still find some great books in our 3+ section!

Araboh is a movement. It’s about teaching our children to embrace their Arab pride. It’s about giving the gift of the Arabic language, to your family, to your friends, and to the world. We hope you will join our movement to revive the Arabic language.
